O segundo jogo do Praia Clube colocou o time frente ao terceiro colocado da Liga dos Campeões da Europa, o Lube Civitanova. A partida válida pelo Mundial de Clubes de Vôlei Masculino destacou a potência do saque italiano e da defesa brasileira. A vitória dos visitantes por 3 sets a 0 (25 x 18 / 25 x 19 / 28 x 26) significou a eliminação dos anfitriões na fase de grupos da competição.
O técnico Fabiano “Magoo” Ribeiro escalou os titulares do Praia Clube com o levantador Gustavo, o oposto Franco, o líbero Pedro, os ponteiros Maicon e Lucas Loh e os centrais Eliezer e Pietro. Do lado do Civitanova os jogadores foram o levantador Boninfante, o oposto Lagumdzija, o líbero Balaso, os ponteiros Nikolov e Bottolo e os centrais Chinenyeze e Gargiulo, sob comando de Giampaolo Medei.
O Jogo
As duas equipes chegaram pressionadas por terem perdido suas duas primeiras partidas do campeonato. A ânsia por passar para a próxima fase deixou os times mais agressivos do que no primeiro dia. Logo no set inicial o Civitanova demonstrou a potência da sua linha de ataque. Lagumdzija, Nikolov e Gargiulo fizeram mais de quatro pontos cada. O Praia Clube conseguiu acompanhar o ritmo, mas os poucos erros italianos garantiram a vitória por 25 a 18.
No segundo set a pressão europeia continuou enquanto os anfitriões faziam o possível para se manter na disputa. Dessa vez, ambos ponteiros do Civitanova dificultaram a recepção para forçar erros, o que foi mais comum neste set. A falta de bloqueios do Praia Clube também dificultava o sistema defensivo, o que ajudou os visitantes a vencerem por 25 a 19.
O terceiro set teve um desenrolar diferente dos anteriores, quem dominava as ações era o Praia Clube. O bloqueio passou a ser mais efetivo, o que lentamente tirou a paciência dos italianos para atacar. Os anfitriões ficaram mais confiantes com essas mudanças e passaram a sacar melhor do que antes. A vantagem criada pelos brasileiros se manteve por grande parte do set, mas no momento decisivo o Civitanova virou o placar. A vitória do set e da partida foi por 28 a 26.
O resultado elimina matematicamente os brasileiros da competição e mantém os italianos vivos na disputa pela classificação. O maior colaborador para o placar foi Nikolov, do Civitanova, com 16 pontos. Gargiulo ficou com o segundo maior número de pontos do time e da partida com 11. Por parte dos praianos, Franco foi o destaque também com 11.

O Torneio
Sediado em Uberlândia (MG), o torneio é organizado pelo Praia Clube, em parceria com o Sada Cruzeiro. Os jogos ocorrerão de 10 a 15 de dezembro na Arena Sabiazinho, com capacidade para 6 mil pessoas. Alguns dos melhores times e atletas do mundo estarão em quadra disputando o título.
O Mundial de Clubes entra para o portfólio de grandes eventos já realizados pelo Praia Clube. Em anos recentes, o Clube organizou duas etapas do Mundial de Vôlei de Praia (Beach Pro Tour – Elite 16), além de etapas do Circuito Sul-Americano de Vôlei de Praia e do Campeonato Sul-Americano de Clubes de Voleibol Feminino em 2023.
O torneio é realizado pela Federação Mineira de Voleibol (FMV), por meio de projeto inscrito na Lei Federal de Incentivo ao Esporte. O patrocínio master é do Governo de Minas Gerais, via Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (Cemig).

The second match of Praia Clube put the team up against the third-place finisher of the CEV Champions League, Lube Civitanova. The game, part of the Men’s Volleyball Club World Championship, highlighted the power of the Italian serve and the Brazilian defense. The visitors’ 3-0 victory (25-18 / 25-19 / 28-26) resulted in the hosts’ elimination in the group stage of the competition.
Coach Fabiano “Magoo” Ribeiro set the starting lineup for Praia Clube with setter Gustavo, opposite Franco, libero Pedro, outside hitters Maicon and Lucas Loh, and middle blockers Eliezer and Pietro. On the Civitanova side, the players were setter Boninfante, opposite Lagumdzija, libero Balaso, outside hitters Nikolov and Bottolo, and middle blockers Chinenyeze and Gargiulo, under the command of Giampaolo Medei.
The Game
Both teams entered the match under pressure after losing their first games of the tournament. The eagerness to advance to the next phase made the playstile more aggressive than on the first day. Right from the start of the first set, Civitanova showcased the power of its attack line. Lagumdzija, Nikolov, and Gargiulo each scored more than four points. Praia Clube managed to keep up with the pace, but the low number of errors from the Italians ensured their victory, 25-18.
In the second set, the European pressure continued as the hosts did their best to stay in the competition. This time, both outside hitters from Civitanova made reception more difficult to force errors, which became more common in this set. The lack of blocks from Praia Clube also hindered their defensive system, which helped the visitors secure a 25-19 victory.
The third set unfolded differently from the previous ones, with Praia Clube dominating the action. The blocks became more effective, which slowly wore down the Italians’ patience in attack. The hosts gained more confidence with these changes and began serving better than before. The lead built by the Brazilians held for much of the set, but at the decisive moment, Civitanova turned the score around. The set and match victory ended 28-26.
The result mathematically eliminates the Brazilians from the competition and keeps the Italians alive in the fight for qualification. The top contributor to the score was Nikolov from Civitanova, with 16 points. Gargiulo followed with the second-highest point total for both his team and the match, scoring 11. For Praia Clube, Franco was the standout player, also with 11 points.
The Tournament
Hosted in Uberlândia (MG), the championship is organized by Praia Clube, in partnership with Sada Cruzeiro. The games will occur between December 10th and 15th, in Arena Sabiazinho, with a capacity for 6.000 people. Some of the best teams and athletes in the world will be in the court fighting for the title.
The Club World Champs joins Praia Clube’s portfolio of hosting big events. In recent years, the club hosted the Beach Pro Tour – Elite 16 twice, and also the South American Beach Volleyball Championship, and the South American Women’s Club Championship in 2023.
The tournament is organized by the Minas Gerais Volleyball Federation (FMV) through a project registered under the Federal Sports Incentive Law. The main sponsorship comes from the Minas Gerais state government, via the Minas Gerais Energy Company (Cemig).
